Punta Chullera, also known as Punta de la Chullera, is a luxurious development
which sits between the village of
Manilva
and the village of
Sotogrande. It is
an up and coming area which only provides its residents and visitors with
spectacular villas – there are no high rise apartments here at all. This area
was deemed an important surveillance area throughout many periods of history,
due to the fact that it gives great views of Gibraltar. Punta Chullera is
perfectly located to enjoy a relaxing and peaceful holiday, yet is near to all
of the major attractions that the Costa del Sol has to offer.
Main Tourist Attractions
Punta Chullera offers something different from most of the other beaches that
can be found in the area. It is littered with low cliffs and jagged outcrops
which make it a great place for some exploring with the children. It is also
renowned for its diving and fishing. The long stretches of sand for sunbathing
and water sports can be found in nearby
Sabinillas or
Estepona. Puerto de la
Duquesa and Sotogrande provide activities such as horse riding, golf, polo and
tennis. Nearby Manilva offers the chance for visitors to bathe in some ancient
Roman sulphur baths and some well preserved sections of an ancient aqueduct. A
short journey by car will bring you to the popular resorts of Puerto Banus and
Marbella where you will find many activities to enjoy during your stay in the
region.
Shopping Opportunities
Shopping is limited in this urbanised area but it is within a short walking
distance of shops which provide the everyday essentials and some great
souvenirs. Puerto du la Duquesa offers some small shops and supermarkets. Nearby
Sotogrande has the Sotomarket where you can purchase items such as clothing,
shoes, bags, hats, toys, jewellery and art. Shopaholics can take a short trip to
Puerto Banus and Marbella’s Golden Mile to visit some stylish boutiques and
designer fashion outlets. Many visitors who are based in Punta Chullera tae a
day trip to Gibraltar to do some tax-free shopping.
Eating out and Nightlife
The beach at Punta Chullera has a chiringuitos where you will find a small menu,
including Tapas and a selection of refreshing drinks. The urbanised area does
not have any cafés, bars or restaurants as yet, but it is within walking
distance of some wonderful eateries in the nearby district of San Diego. Puerto
du La Duquesa, Manilva and Sotogrande also have a range of establishments which
cater for all tastes.
Punta Chullera is a relaxing area and evenings are very low key. If you are
looking for lively discos and bars with live music, you will need to take the
short trip to the marina in Puerto du la Duquesa.
